Installation and Retail display for HELIOT EMIL Fall/Winter '22 'Solitary Uniform' at Congruent Space. Heliot Emil, a quickly rising high fashion brand from Copenhagen, Denmark, has made an unwavering commitment to the fusion of fashion and functionality.
Tasked with creating an in-store dispay, the main goal was to pair their industrial and avant-garde sensibility with the enigmatic and alluring trend of robotics and artificial intelligence. If Heliot Emil's garments are a shield against the encroaching world, our installation is the threat against which the shield is demanded. Synthetic fire, and ever-watching simulated faces paired with hard and heavy industrial mainstays like cinder blocks and steel pipes, create a palpable tension between the garments and the viewer.
Clothing Rack installation, built from objects typifying Heliot Emil's indusrial aesthetic, utilizing the brand's signature carabiners. The swivel and click connection of these climbing devices inspired the construction method of the installation itself, opting for components with several different fastening methods. The moving fire, coupled with the moving faces on the tablets channels an eerie "real world instagram," a sense of motion trapped forever within a rectangular frame.
The android mannequins stare directly into the fire of the deconstructed clothing rack display.
